Dr. Uma Mahadevan is a gastroenterologist and director of the UCSF Colitis and Crohn's Disease Center. She is an expert on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly as it relates to pregnancy and fertility, and on managing patients with complex Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
In research, Mahadevan is interested in digital health for IBD and developing novel therapies for IBD, and she is involved in trials of new drugs and dietary therapies.
Mahadevan earned her medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University College of Medicine, part of the State University of New York system. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System, a fellowship in gastroenterology at UCSF, and a fellowship in IBD at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
